Ladies Night Out 2018

Prevention is the best cure!

It’s estimated that 25,080 new cases of invasive breast cancer are expected to be diagnosed in women in Louisiana this year, resulting in an estimated 9,370 deaths.

We’re tired of these numbers. We’re tired of the dreaded phone calls from our mothers, sisters, aunts, and neighbors with the news of a diagnosis. We’re tired of the chemo. It’s time for a new narrative around breast cancer.

We want to do our part to help Susan G. Komen reach their goal to reduce breast cancer cases by 50% in the U.S. by 2026. So here’s what we are doing at MLK Health.

Twice a year we host a big party for eligible women to get their annual mammogram followed by complimentary pampering. During LNO 2018, women who completed their annual mammogram received a free manicure, facial, and massage. We want to outweigh the 20 minutes of discomfort with a few hours of celebration.

We’re proud to report that yesterday evening:

  • 29 women received their mammogram
  • 15 were scheduled to receive their mammogram this Thursday
  • 7 women received their well-woman examinations with PAP

MLK Health hosts a women’s clinic the fourth Thursday of every month. We accept insured and uninsured women who otherwise cannot access these preventative screenings. If it’s time for your annual mammogram, call Lauren today at 318-227-2912, ext. 5. (Or forward this link to a friend!)

Mark you calendars for Mammograms & Manicures on October 25th!

Special thanks to our partners and sponsors who made Ladies Night Out possible. Together, we WILL change the narrative around breast cancer!
